I met Tyler from Future Horse Podcast and knew we had to do a RoboCop double feature when he caught the reference to the savior of Detroit in our name. So I skipped the first sequel and made Steve watch this PG-13 trainwreck (perhaps as a little payback for The Star Wars Holiday Special) for his second foray against OCP.

Debt to Cinema 022: You’ve Got Mail
This might be our list of shame show, but I have no shame in placing this on my list of favorites. This may not be an amazing film, but there’s something perfect about. Maybe its just them – the quintessential romcom couple of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan; or Nora Ephron perfecting her style. Either way, this product placement infused, remake is necessary watching and I finally made Steve see it.
Debt to Cinema 021: A Matter of Life and Death
Its (roughly) Valentine’s Day, so Steve thought it would be appropriate to have me watch one of his favorite romantic movies. Despite this dual titled film being great, I really wish I could give my approval of the relationship at the crux of the story.
Debt to Cinema 020: Run Lola Run
I wasn’t paying attention and accidentally jacked Steve’s pick this week. He agreed my Groundhog Day tribute episode should be released as intended, plus its only a matter of time until someone makes a mistake. Join us for this German, frenetic, experimental film about the possibilities of escaping one.
Debt to Cinema 019: The Grey
Come for the “this movie saved my life” story teased in the intro, stay for the kickass, survival story featuring LIAM NEESON PUNCHING WOLVES – oh, and its actually really good too #IdBuyThatForADollar
Debt to Cinema 018: Field of Dreams
Coming off of Dancing With Wolves the previous week, Steve felt it was time to see Kevin Costner’s other classic released just the year before. This is a beautifully, haunting film. They just don’t make ’em like this anymore.
Debt to Cinema 017: The Gift (2000)
Despite being a Sam Raimi fan I’ve pushed this movie off for years. I knew very little about this supernatural thriller outside of it being about Billy Bob’s mom, but only one thing mattered, and Harold and Kumar taught me that.
Debt to Cinema 016: About Schmidt
There’s no particular reason Steve picked this film, but then again, when Jack Nicholson and Alexander Payne are involved, you shouldn’t need one. Join us as we talk about the wiles of an old man trying to find himself after society has told him his life is over.
Debt to Cinema 015: Strange Days
This film is all about the imagination: Imagine if Kathryn Bigelow and James Cameron made a Y2K sci-fi action thriller.
Next imagine it has awesome virtual reality.
Also imagine it has a strong subtext about police brutality.
Finally, imagine what a podcast review would sound like about that film.
Debt to Cinema 014: The Star Wars Holiday Special
No matter what happens the rest of the year, remember that none of your friends or loved ones are as vile as Steve is. Take my word for it, or any other person on the internet, and never watch this thing.
