Dollar Reviews 040: Wonder Woman

After three reviews for Batman v Superman and my equal amount of screenings for Suicide Squad, Patty Jenkins made a sacrifice to the gods and gave us a DCEU movie the world unanimously loves for all the right reasons #IdBuyThatForADollar. We fill out the rest of the episode with our delayed thoughts on Tom Tykwer’s A Hologram for the King (38:45), “Max Landis’s” Mr. Right (44:27), and IFC Midnighter, A Dark Song (58:37).

Two Cents 098: I Forgot About the Pupusas (Feat. Cynical Cartoons)

The third to last episode where we bring Tyler on one last time to talk Wonder Woman, Adam Wingard filming Godzilla vs King Kong, and where the Animaniacs reboot fits within Time Warner’s streaming entities (especially with Tyler’s OTT streaming trial impressions). I try something new in finding out how all our weekends have gone, talk Nintendo’s online service for the Switch, Walmart training employees for Black Friday with VR, and the Amazon engineer trusting Twitch chat with his life savings.

Two Cents 092: I’ll Scream for Paid Streams

The episode in which I try to sell you on supporting us via Patreon thru being able to witness me piss my pants in VR horror, Hulu keeps building its library up, James Wan is making a Smart House movie, James Gunn is returning for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Captain Marvel has found a directing duo, and Fox dated a ton of projects, including Avatar sequels. Plus, Facebook’s new 8K VR camera and Social app, Ridley Scott’s VR production arm, Sony figuring out vertical integration, the latest in HDR advancements, some fun Netflix numbers, the battle for Bond 25, and the SNES Classic Edition.

Dollar Reviews 036: Sandy Wexler

We’ve been nice overall when it comes to sharing our opinions of Adam Sandler’s recent offerings, not seeing the point in beating a dying horse, but after two hiccups on Netflix, Happy Madison has finally delivered something totally likeable. When that conversation trails off we split hairs over the Thor Ragnarok trailer (27:16) before doing a live reaction to the Star Wars Battlefront 2 reveal (33:51), followed by my showstopping Goodwill movie haul (37:46) and impressions of Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN (44:17). Finally Steve caught Poltergeist in 70mm (48:58) and Gods of Egypt (51:24), while I saw The Accountant (55:29) and a double bill of We Are the Best and Los Punks (59:23).

Two Cents 085: Oscars So WTF

The episode in which our hero from Bulworth and Dick Tracy finds himself in a sticky situation, the passing of Bill Paxton, the state of Playstation VR, Hellboy, Nightwing, and Devon Sawa?! Steve caught the apparently similar Get Out and A Cure for Wellness, while I have had HEALTH’s Disco 3 on repeat while exploring Thumper (PSVR).  Plus, Netflix looking very Bright (so we try to calculate its money pool), 5G tests are coming this year, and VR in space!

Two Cents 067: Samsung Fire Sale

The week in which Netflix continues to challenge the theatrical release model, Ryan Kavanugh is looking to sell Relativity, Wang Jialin is stopping by Hollywood to scour the town, Alibaba is teaming with Amblin Partners, Yahoo assisted the NSA in scanning all their emails in real time, Samsung is ceasing production of the Note 7, and the latest from Google and Oculus’s press conferences. Plus, Amazon is adapting a podcast for Prime, pricing details for Turner’s Filmstruck streamer, the Suicide Squad Extended Cut, the Gears of War adaptation, more movies that don’t need to be on TV, and The Simpsons in VR.

Two Cents 064: The One Sided Conversation (Feat. Chef Geoh)

The week in which my guest had a recording snafu and only my audio survived, I share my experiences from GameStop Expo and Long Beach Comic Con, pimp our episode on Victoria since High Noon is getting a remake, Rogue One has lost its composer 3 months before release, Spike Lee is adapting She’s Gotta Have It for Netflix, Facebook being integrated into Oculus has us scared, Twitter is embracing its media platform while reinvigorating itself, and eSports are coming to a university near you. Plus, Batman Day, Margot Robbie’s WB contract, a Stan Lee movie, dark reboots of lesser heroes, Fury Road: Black & Chrome, and more!

Two Cents 063: Think Outside The Bun

The episode in which I thank Steve for a great birthday present, we dissect Sony’s Playstation 4 Pro, speculate over the latest James Bond rumor, ridicule Apple for always being behind the curve, dream about Virginia Tech’s drone delivered Mexican food, and get sidetracked a ton before spending a lot of time on the DCEU especially Batman’s solo outing. Plus, Shanghai Dawn, Mallrats 2, my never ending love for Step Up and Magic Mike, Syfy’s upcoming hybrid 2D/VR project, Taco Bell fun facts, and more!

Two Cents 062: Spoderman n Frendz

The slow week in which I try a different format, Amazon might have landed the next Linklater flick, Arclight Theaters are on Fandango, I share a funny/sad coincidence about Dollar Reviews 028, Transformers 5 casting King Arthur and its possible cementing of a trend, my second attempt at making “live-reaction” a thing, and DC and Marvel news (with an unrequested re-review of Spiderman: Civil War). Plus, Jon Favreau made a virtual reality experience, Steve finally got a Google Cardboard, we guess why HTC Vive and Oculus Rift sales are stagnant, Linden Labs and IMAX reveal more about their VR gambles, and the future of education in a digital world.
