Dollar Reviews 038: Captain Fantastic
We begin with the hippie starring, hipster targeted, family road trip, philosophical drama, Captain Fantastic before I move onto actual superhero fare Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (28:36) and M. Night Shyamalan’s Split and Unbreakable (46:34). Next, I share my PSVR experiences with Until Dawn: Rush of Blood (55:38) and puzzler Statik (57:53). Meanwhile Steve caught James Ponsoldt’s The Circle (1:01:13), Free Fire (1:20:00), and The Accountant (1:21:34). Finally, I share the TV I’ve been watching lately and my best Goodwill find to date: the $3 recliner (1:24:57).

Two Cents 081: One Big, Happy Family

Also, my thoughts on The Founder, Moonlight, SportsBar VR, and Girlschool DJ night; and Steve’s on some Amazon docs, Bone Tomahawk, and I Know Who Killed Me. Plus, AT&T/Time Warner might have competition between Comcast adding cellular lines to its family and Verizon possibly buying Charter Communications, Oscar nominations, the next projects from Jeremy Saulnier and James Ponsoldt, and the first UHD Blu-ray drives are coming to PCs.
Dollar Reviews 029: Doctor Strange
Another Marvel movie, another cycle of rankings, but not on our part. We like viewing films for their individual merits; however, with Infinity War coming soon after two full phases of hype, its hard to separate a single story from the grandiose whole. We’re a little staggered on our appreciation for this film, but its unabashedly a fun ride. Let’s hope Disney keeps up the good work.
Two Cents 060: Dancing On My Own
The week in which I had entirely too much fun bouncing between parties so Steve recorded the show without me after a misunderstood text, Ben Affleck jumps back on the murder mystery hype train, Ocean’s Ocho might already have all-female competition, Hulu is the latest streamer to sip the Marvel kool aid, Alibaba is set to build their own theaters in China, and Uber is going to experiment with driverless cars. Plus, Adam West is back as Batman, the return of smell-o-vision, Amazon’s developing VR experiences, Varsity Blues and The Lost Boys are coming to TV, and The Jesus is Going Places.
Two Cents 048: News a la Carte
The week in which Steve has to leave early so I finish by myself (boom), Terry Gilliam is finally filming his Don Quixote, Nintendo is going to adapt their characters, DC on The CW is going to have a huge crossover event, the Angry Video Game Nerd refuses to watch the new Ghostbusters, Warner Bros has made Geoff Johns their own Kevin Feige for DC Films, Harley Quinn might be leading a female flick, and Universal is making another cinematic universe. Plus, Netflix airing Narcos on TV, IMAX bringing VR to the masses, BitTorrent launched a live streaming platform, Google I/O coverage especially Daydream VR, Motorola is bringing the RAZR back, and Kevin Smith is adapting Buckaroo Banzai for TV.
Dollar Reviews 016: Marvel’s Daredevil Season 2
Within 24 hours of Netflix’s second season going live I took on the fool’s errand of binging the entire thing for your listening pleasure. We not only talk the season’s merits, but also MCU connections, performances, and Steve’s disdain for kickass action on the small screen. This is our first attempt at mutually reviewing something other than a film, so let us know how we did!
