Dollar Reviews 024: Swiss Army Man/Finding Dory
We begin with the all Daniels, tour de farts, Swiss Army Man which will hopefully ride the current under the radar into your hearts, then surf into Finding Dory (20:28) a little later than the rest of the ocean of film critics. Finally, Steve caught Max Landis’s Victor Frankenstein (32:00) and I talk future proofing my Playstation VR library with Mike Bithell’s Volume (36:05).

The week in which I ended up doing the show alone for the second episode in a row and quickly covered HBO’s Westworld coming in the Fall, Disney’s latest films coming to Netflix beginning in September, John Carpenter exec producing the latest Halloween reboot with Blumhouse, Shia LaBeouf doing another performance art piece, Adam Sandler making an animated flick at STX, Starz moving original programming to Sundays, Microsoft’s trio of rumored Xbox consoles, and PCs shaped as backpacks for VR users. Plus, a review of my Oculus Rift demo experience, John Francis Daley/Jonathan Goldstein’s Game Night, and The Rock’s Chinese Die Hard flick, Skyscraper.
Dollar Reviews 023: The Do-Over/Preacher/X-Men: Apocalypse
This week I decided to be a cheap jerk and make Steve catch Adam Sandler’s second Netflix exclusive, The Do-Over, as well as Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s Preacher pilot (22:15). Steve caught the natural header, X-Men: Apocalypse in 3D (32:45) and last year’s Cannes standout, The Lobster (42:12). Finally, I saw another comicbook pilot in Cinemax’s Outcast (54:49) and give my impressions of Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate (58:49).

The week in which the show gets a complete overhaul, beginning with a new section where we keep tabs on past news items (Dreamworks Animation, James Wan/Aquaman, Yoga Hosers vs MPAA), Hulu (and maybe Youtube) are joining the OTT live TV game, Magic Mike Live is coming to Las Vegas, Batfleck is exec producing Justice League, Disney finally found their Young Han Solo, Universal adds another A-list monster to its universe, Lebron James is finally making a Space Jam sequel, and Kodak is giving film stock to kickstarter campaigns. Plus, the Oculus Rift is available at Best Buy, Max Landis has an idea for a fifth Scream movie, and Andrew Garfield is starring in the neo noir follow up to It Follows.
