2016 has been a horrible year so far in terms of celebrity deaths. David Bowie and Alan Rickman are probably the most notable passings, but whereas they both had several iconic performances that made them cultural icons, Anton Yelchin was only just starting out. What better way to remember him than viewing a film about him being able to see ghosts?

Plus, with E3 in mind, are permabans becoming the new trend in gaming, Blizzard brings livestreaming to Facebook, and Mel Gibson’s making a Passion of the Christ sequel.
Debt to Cinema 038: The Long Goodbye
Its pretty ironic that this film, given its title, comes at the beginning of Steve’s leave of absence from the show. He picked it (as he states in the intro) to tie in with The Nice Guys, and they are similar in a couple ways, but Elliot Gould brings a level of cool to his version of Philip Marlowe that Gosling and Crowe can’t mimic.

The episode in which Steve is taking a sabbatical so Tyler from Future Horse joins me, Flash has a Dope new director, Rogue One is going through reshoots, news on the Sicario sequel, Power Rangers, Google is taking steps to prevent Skynet, holographic performances at the Museum of Comedy, stupid backlash over X-Men, Ubisoft is adapting another IP to the big screen, and the reemergence of the musical and disaster flick. Plus, Netflix is making a show about female wrestlers, Atari is trying to stay relevant, and I gush over the promise of VR for a new set of ears (and why it won’t be the next fad like 3D).
Debt to Cinema 037: Bulworth
With the rat race the 2016 Presidential Election has become, and more importantly, the increasing realization that all lives matter, this amazingly, sardonic Warren Beatty film is necessary viewing. Its over the top and laughably silly, but it comes from the right place. Hopefully this ep helps give it the attention it deserves now since it didn’t get it in 1998.

The week in which I ended up doing the show alone for the second episode in a row and quickly covered HBO’s Westworld coming in the Fall, Disney’s latest films coming to Netflix beginning in September, John Carpenter exec producing the latest Halloween reboot with Blumhouse, Shia LaBeouf doing another performance art piece, Adam Sandler making an animated flick at STX, Starz moving original programming to Sundays, Microsoft’s trio of rumored Xbox consoles, and PCs shaped as backpacks for VR users. Plus, a review of my Oculus Rift demo experience, John Francis Daley/Jonathan Goldstein’s Game Night, and The Rock’s Chinese Die Hard flick, Skyscraper.
Dollar Reviews 023: The Do-Over/Preacher/X-Men: Apocalypse
This week I decided to be a cheap jerk and make Steve catch Adam Sandler’s second Netflix exclusive, The Do-Over, as well as Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s Preacher pilot (22:15). Steve caught the natural header, X-Men: Apocalypse in 3D (32:45) and last year’s Cannes standout, The Lobster (42:12). Finally, I saw another comicbook pilot in Cinemax’s Outcast (54:49) and give my impressions of Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate (58:49).
