Last week my romance pick wasn’t quite my tempo, and this week Steve’s isn’t his. Perhaps we should start making selections for one another? For some reason, Ang Lee’s acclaimed Chinese martial arts/tragic love story, didn’t strike his fancy, but it leads to an interesting discussion on public perception of classics and the struggle of swimming against the tide of universal acclaim.

Dollar Reviews 022: The Nice Guys/Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
Shane Black and Nathan Drake are back, and so are we! Tune in for this double feature on 70s era LA mysteries and Naughty Dog’s final Playstation treasure hunting adventure (23:40). If you’re too lazy to listen, I’d buy both of these for a dollar! (which isn’t saying much when I spent $80 on the latter). Plus, Steve talks about the latest 3D IMAX documentary, A Beautiful Planet (38:50).

The week in which Steve has to leave early so I finish by myself (boom), Terry Gilliam is finally filming his Don Quixote, Nintendo is going to adapt their characters, DC on The CW is going to have a huge crossover event, the Angry Video Game Nerd refuses to watch the new Ghostbusters, Warner Bros has made Geoff Johns their own Kevin Feige for DC Films, Harley Quinn might be leading a female flick, and Universal is making another cinematic universe. Plus, Netflix airing Narcos on TV, IMAX bringing VR to the masses, BitTorrent launched a live streaming platform, Google I/O coverage especially Daydream VR, Motorola is bringing the RAZR back, and Kevin Smith is adapting Buckaroo Banzai for TV.

I give a pretty good rundown of why I picked this film in the soft open, but if you need it in text form, I was basically just in a musical mood this week. I didn’t exactly get what I was looking for (while Steve’s expectations were surpassed), but am still keen on Cameron Crowe’s first televisual exploration in the coming weeks.

The week in which I stumble out of the gate but still implore everyone to visit LACMA’s Guillermo Del Toro exhibit, Black Panther has new big talent, Amazon launched Video Direct, making them a Youtube competitor, the A to Z store is rumored to offer its own food items to Prime members, We Do It Together is making a female centered short film collection, the scary trend of people live streaming sad shit, Warner Bros makes Godzilla moves as Gareth Edwards moves on, The Russo Bros are making a Chinese superhero movie, Wentworth Miller is going to be a recurring character across the Arrowverse, and Disney Infinity is no more as The House of Mouse has ceased all videogame development.

Because Steve’s a dick, here’s my second review of The Wachowskis debut film within a six month span. Its criminally underseen, but hopefully their transitions will spark interest in this queer noir if only for its two gorgeous, leading ladies. Listen through the outro for my first impression (Warning: I say definitely a lot).

Plus, the Oculus Rift is available at Best Buy, Max Landis has an idea for a fifth Scream movie, and Andrew Garfield is starring in the neo noir follow up to It Follows.

This week we finally live up to our intro and give you reviews for a wide amount of media beginning with Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War. Plus, we talk Nintendo’s confusing business practices, Disney bets on Nokia for VR, Terrence Malick has another movie coming out this year, and Jamie Foxx might be in an R-rated muppet whodunit.
