Plus, the UC Berkeley violent protest against free speech, Zenimax successfully sued Oculus for stealing their resources, Sony’s Playstation VR gets brighter as Sony Pictures looms in uncertainty, Snapchat grows up, and how Vizio’s spying on you might shake up FCC standards again.

The episode in which we continue TrumpWatch2017, Apocalypse Now is becoming a videogame, Square-Enix is doing the same to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Fox has enlisted Bryan Singer for an in universe X-Men pilot, The Flash stays troubled, Predator sounds amazing, and I tried the Naked Chicken Chalupa. Also, my thoughts on The Founder, Moonlight, SportsBar VR, and Girlschool DJ night; and Steve’s on some Amazon docs, Bone Tomahawk, and I Know Who Killed Me. Plus, AT&T/Time Warner might have competition between Comcast adding cellular lines to its family and Verizon possibly buying Charter Communications, Oscar nominations, the next projects from Jeremy Saulnier and James Ponsoldt, and the first UHD Blu-ray drives are coming to PCs.

The episode in which Universal decides the F8 of a franchise, China might change the way videogame loot boxes work, retail is trying to keep Pokemon Go a thing, Will Ferrell is tackling eSports next, the next Cloverfield movie, Dunkirk’s 70mm teaser, Kodak’s reelfilm website, and the Transformers IMAX VR experience. Steve shares thoughts on Nocturnal Animals, The Fourth Man, and the Willard remake, while I talk Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the Star Wars Battlefront X-Wing VR experience, and Final Fantasy XV in its multimedia entirety. In bigger news, Al Gore is hoping to return to the Oscars and Jimmy Kimmel is joining him, the Global Virtual Reality Association, the lessened worries of the impending merger between AT&T and Time Warner given the larger threat on hand, especially against Amazon’s attempt to kill retail as we know it.

Plus, Tesla is going to power an entire island with clean energy, Alt-right douchebags becoming nazis, a Dick Cheney biopic, Deadpool 2 and comedy sequels being lazy, and Snowpiercer becoming a TNT show.

The week in which I hopefully share details about my doomed romance for the last time, Tinder goes trans friendly, Domino’s does drone delivery in New Zealand, and Steve caught Terrence Malick’s A Voyage of Time and Brainscan, while I finally checked out Westworld’s pilot and Denis Villeneuve’s Arrival. Also, Google and Facebook crack down on fake news ads, the possible end of the Electoral College, China continues its foothold in the movie industry, Marvel moves Inhumans to the small screen, the curious case of Watch Dogs 2, and a fun closing conversation about the future of VR, gaming, and 8K.
Debt to Cinema 060: The Ruling Class
Topicality is a funny thing in that what is special for a given moment doesn’t always retain its luster. This pick, Steve’s second consecutive selection from Peter Medak, in particular is strange for a non-British audience. Its a quirky, black comedy about politics, but its length and run-on jokes make it hard to recommend. This is one of the few moments where we sacrificed our time so you don’t have to – enjoy!

The week in which we spend the first 30 mins talking about our recent watches/plays (including my ongoing PSVR impressions), AT&T attempts to lower public disdain of vertical integration by hinting DirecTV Now will only be $35/month, Donald Trump’s Hollywood Star’s continual vandalism and its effect on voter sympathy, Amazon is now available in China, Microsoft continues to impress by introducing the Windows 10 Creator Update and its accompanying VR headsets, and ABBA and Muppet Babies are returning! Plus, Sony’s Uncharted adaptation, Rambo, Zelda Fitzgerald, the continual stupidity of Cupertino, Twitch has a cooking show now, and lots of HTC Vive info.
Two Cents 068: Let’s Get Political
The week in which we’re back after I spent the prior week hosting someone in a different fashion altogether and reintroduce a segment to the show in which I share my Playstation VR first impressions. Also, (30 mins later) AT&T is re-establishing itself as a monopoly by purchasing Time Warner, Wang Jialin unveiled Movie Metropolis and his plan to kickstart Chinese tourism and commerce, the NBA is going to broadcast one game a week in VR, Devin Faraci is scum, Marvel continues the worst trend in directing, and Chris Rock has landed a huge Netflix check. Plus, the Nintendo Switch, High Frame Rates in cinema, The Coen Brother’s Dark Web, Donald Glover as the Young Lando, and I contemplate registering to vote to protest the usage of condoms in porn.
