Usually its because one of us is sadistic and feels like making the other endure the pain of an awful film, but every once in a while the internet is wrong and we find a new favorite (here’s looking at you, Catwoman). Debt to Cinema 057: Phantasm
I usually don’t have the balls to watch these kind of movies, so what better selection is there than something remembered for its killer balls? This film kinda has it all (except for explanations) and I’m still not sure what to make of it, but I hope you find our convo on Don Coscarelli’s late 70s classic dreamy.
Debt to Cinema 038: The Long Goodbye
Its pretty ironic that this film, given its title, comes at the beginning of Steve’s leave of absence from the show. He picked it (as he states in the intro) to tie in with The Nice Guys, and they are similar in a couple ways, but Elliot Gould brings a level of cool to his version of Philip Marlowe that Gosling and Crowe can’t mimic.
Debt to Cinema 017: The Gift (2000)
Despite being a Sam Raimi fan I’ve pushed this movie off for years. I knew very little about this supernatural thriller outside of it being about Billy Bob’s mom, but only one thing mattered, and Harold and Kumar taught me that.
Two Cents 026: No Place Like Dome
The episode in which the force awakens new box office records, Tarantino is pushed out of the Cinerama Dome, Dreamworks becomes Amblin Partners, Netflix streaming requires less bandwidth, Mad Max might get a black and white re-release, Terminator 2 is returning in 3D, Disneyland takes safety precautions, Sean Penn is Andrew Jackson on HBO, and Amazon renews three shows (including my darling Red Oaks).
